5.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards achievement of the learning objectives. The theoretical and practical content will be presented by the teacher in the form of questions, discussions and public expression of opinions to reach indivudual and group conclusions.

Whenever possible, active and cooperative learning methodologies will be implemented.

5.2. Learning tasks

The course includes the following learning tasks: 

•  Lectures (1.5 ECTS: 15 hours)
• Other activities (1.5 ECTS: 15 hours):
• Analysis of case reports
• Searching of information and cooperative work
• Reading of scientific articles or documents related to the course contents 
• Oral presentations
• Viewing of audiovisual material
• Attending conferences and presentations related to the course contents
• Visiting experts

5.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

1. Concept and development of neuropsychology of aging.
2. Neuroanatomical and neurophysiological changes associated with normal and pathological aging.
3. Dementias: concept, classification and differential diagnosis.
4. Clinical neuropsychology of aging and dementia.
5. Neuropsychological assessment and intervention in dementias.
